Adam Langlais

67 days ago - by Jared Kajka

In June of this year, 34 year-old Adam Langlais had his life drastically changed forever by an extremely rare brain stem stroke that left him with Locked-In Syndrome.

Up until that time, Adam enjoyed life. Family and friends have always been of paramount importance to him, and he was a very physical guy.

Here is Adam with his Viking;Adam

Adam started playing paintball in 1990, and has been involved in everything from Big Games to playing in the World Cup with Ku, a team from Japan . He participated in the AKA/AGD Day at Fox 4 Paintball. He has always been an active and keen promoter of the sport, and has introduced dozens and dozens if not hundreds of people to paintball.

Until a few weeks ago, he was unable to do ANYTHING other than blink his eyes and move his eyes vertically since the stroke.

He cannot speak. He has a tube directly to his stomach providing nutrition. He has had a tracheostomy. The area where the stroke occurred is the Pons, which controls voluntary muscle movement.

He is still 100% mentally the same guy, just completely trapped inside his own body.

Here he is in Atlanta at the specialty rehab.

In the past few weeks, he has made some good progress. He can now move his left hand and arm, and is able to nod and shake his head for “yes” and “no”. He can move his left foot a few inches. Even this much progress is nothing short of a miracle, and is MUCH more than the doctors had given us cause to hope for. In fact, many of the doctors are stunned at his progress, which had been deemed “impossible”. So there is hope.

We have been working on a fund raiser for him and his family to help out with the overwhelming amount of bills. If you go here http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=2796449
and look there are different auctions. We are accepting donations at info@destructivecustoms.com. If you would like to donate anything to be auctioned off please email me.
Thanks for your support!
